{"id":6741,"date":"2023-03-23T09:44:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T08:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/szih.org.pl\/?post_type=projekty-grantowe&#038;p=6741"},"modified":"2023-03-23T09:44:25","modified_gmt":"2023-03-23T08:44:25","slug":"translation-of-the-sokolow-podlaski-memorial-book-stage-iii","status":"publish","type":"projekty-grantowe","link":"https:\/\/szih.org.pl\/en\/projekty-grantowe\/translation-of-the-sokolow-podlaski-memorial-book-stage-iii\/","title":{"rendered":"Translation of the Soko\u0142\u00f3w Podlaski Memorial Book &#8211; stage III"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2017 the Gszarim Foundation has been carrying out the translation from Yiddish of successive volumes of the Soko\u0142\u00f3w Podlaski memoirs: Perec Granatsztejn\u2019s <em>Soko\u0142\u00f3w \u2013 moje zniszczone miasteczko<\/em> (Soko\u0142\u00f3w \u2013 my destroyed town), and Simcha Polakiewicz\u2019s <em>In szotn fun Treblinke<\/em> (In the shadow of Treblinka) and <em>A tog in Treblinke<\/em> (A day in Treblinka). In 2020 the first part of the <em>Memorial Book<\/em> was translated, and in 2021 the second. At the end of 2022 the Foundation translated the third part. By translating the book into Polish and making it available online, the Foundation wants to make it possible for residents of Soko\u0142ow and the surrounding area to read it, so they can better understand the nature of the reality of the time, get to know an almost forgotten part of their common history, and most of all learn about it from their closest neighbors.
