The project was implemented by the Łódź Women’s Trail Foundation and aimed to commemorate Jewish women who took part in the resistance movement in the Łódź Ghetto, such as Zula Pacanowska and Hinda (Barbara) Beatus, activists of the underground movement. As part of the project, an artistic installation by Anka Leśniak was created and placed on the building at 56 Zgierska Street in Łódź, a historic site of Jewish resistance activity.

In addition, a public discussion was organized on the erasure of the heroines of the Łódź Ghetto from collective memory, along with two open urban walks devoted to Jewish women’s resistance, which did not consist solely of armed struggle but also of specific attitudes and forms of resistance in everyday life.

The aim of the project was to highlight the crucial role women played in the Łódź resistance movement, to restore the memory of the underground resistance in the Łódź Ghetto and the women who led it. The activities were part of the official commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Łódź Ghetto and were carried out in the public space of the city of Łódź.
