Between 2023 and 2025, the educational project “SORTOWNIA” was implemented to commemorate the history of the sorting facilities for confiscated Jewish property in Pabianice and Dąbrowa during the years 1942–1944. As part of the project, a documentary film directed by Tomasz Biskupski was produced, along with an educational version for schools. Both versions were used in a series of screenings and meetings for young people and adults.
A total of 11 meetings were held in 7 schools in the region (Pabianice, Łódź, Tuszyn, Ostrów), attended by 407 students and 14 teachers. The film was also screened at community centers, conferences, workshops, and educational events, and since June 29, 2025, it has been available online together with a lesson plan at: pabianickisztetl.pl/sortownia.
The project was addressed to local residents, students and teachers, descendants of Holocaust Survivors, and all those interested in the history of the region. It was carried out by a team of historians, educators, and community activists associated with the Pabianice Shtetl Association and its partners.
