The installation Apt, the town that is no more refers directly to places from the work of Mayer Kirshenblatt, a self-taught painter who was born the city that’s known as Opatów in Polish, and Apt in Yiddish. In 1934, Kirshenblatt emigrated to Canada, where many years later he decided to immortalize on canvas the world of his childhood, which had disappeared forever. The Society of Friends of the Opatów Region plans to recreate this world in the form of three-dimensional structures with elements of the paintings and a mural, and illuminations on the wall of a building in Opatów.
