Chess Tournament and Workshops for Youth: “Jewish Creativity in the Field of Chess in the Polish Territories in the Interwar Period”

Grant to the Gryf Szczecin Chess Club Association for the project: Chess Tournament and Workshops for Youth: “Jewish Creativity in the Field of Chess in the Polish Territories in the Interwar Period”

The chess tournament and workshops for youth organized by the Gryf Szczecin Chess Club Association aims to popularize the sport of chess, as well as knowledge about the life and achievements of Jewish chess players in the interwar period, which led to Poland winning its only gold medal at the Chess Olympiad. The project will comprise workshops for children and youth about the creativity of Polish Jews in the sport of chess in the interwar period, and commemorating their three-day chess tournament. The sports competition will be at the level of the Szczecin Open Championships in classical chess. Through this project, the chess club wants to build awareness among Polish youth about Polish-Jewish common history and successes, and chess will provide the appropriate program for dialog.
