This year, Katowice and the Upper Silesian metropolitan area were immersed in the Jewish Culture Days. Guided walks tracing Jewish heritage took place at the Jewish cemetery in Katowice and along the streets of Chorzów and Katowice. Participants attended engaging lectures on history, culture, and memory—ranging from the histories of Jewish families in Katowice, through the fates of synagogues, to the album “Jews of Silesia.” A standout concert by the Mizrachi ensemble featured original songs by Zbigniew Teper.

Children and seniors had the opportunity to try learning Hebrew, while teachers and educators participated in a two-day seminar that inspired new cultural and educational initiatives. Thanks to this rich program, residents of Katowice and the surrounding area gained a deeper understanding of Jewish heritage and its significance for the history of Upper Silesia.
