The aim of the project is the production of a 15-minute documentary film based on materials recorded during educational activities devoted to the Grochów kibbutz—a Jewish community that existed in pre-war Warsaw. The film is intended to popularize knowledge about the little-known history of the Jewish community on the right bank of the Vistula River and to serve as an educational and commemorative tool. The film will premiere at the Yiddish Culture Center and will subsequently be made available online.
Project summary: “KIBBUTZ. A Short Documentary Film”
The project was implemented by Dom Sztuki (House of Art) and involved the creation of a 15-minute documentary devoted to the history of the Grochów kibbutz—a forgotten Jewish agricultural community active in pre-war Warsaw. The film is based on unique materials recorded during workshops and events carried out in 2023, documenting the process of restoring the memory of this community.
The production aimed to deepen knowledge of Jewish presence on the right bank of the Vistula River and to strengthen awareness of local identity. The project combined educational, artistic, and commemorative elements. The film will premiere at the Yiddish Culture Center and will then be made available online, with subtitles in Polish and English.
