The project implemented by the Max Kopfstein Association was dedicated to commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Chorzów synagogue—a place that for decades had served as the center of religious and social life for the local Jewish community. Although the building itself has not survived to the present day, its history and symbolic significance were recalled as an important part of the city’s shared heritage.

The completed events not only commemorated the synagogue, which no longer exists, but also highlighted the significant contribution of the Jewish community to the development of Chorzów and the wider region. They created space for reflection on history, heritage, and the role of cultural diversity in shaping local communities.

The shared commemoration brought together residents of Chorzów and audiences interested in the history and culture of the region. The project helped pave the way for future educational and commemorative initiatives and contributed to sustaining public interest in the Jewish heritage of Chorzów, while strengthening awareness of the city’s multicultural past among the local community.
