The project implemented by the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP), Greater Poland Region – Trzcianka District, aimed to educate young scouts from Krzyż Wielkopolski about the local Jewish community that existed in the area until World War II, while also sharing this knowledge with the wider local community.

As part of the project, scouts took part in a study visit to the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, including specially designed workshops on Jewish scouting and youth organizations. They conducted research using international Holocaust databases to identify Jewish victims connected to Krzyż Wielkopolski and surrounding areas. Field visits to Dobiegniew and Wieleń included the documentation of abandoned Jewish tombstones and collaborative efforts with local students to read and translate Hebrew inscriptions.

The project strengthened participants’ historical awareness, developed their research skills, and increased local community knowledge about Jewish heritage in the region. The collected documentation was shared with local authorities as a foundation for potential future commemorative initiatives.
