The project was implemented by the Polish Historical Society, Łomża Branch, and aimed to complete the translation of The Memorial Book of the Jewish Community of Sokoły (pinkas)—a unique source documenting the life and destruction of the Jewish community in this town.
To date, 190 pages had been translated at the organization’s own expense, and thanks to this project, the translation of the remaining 150 pages was completed. The outcome of the work is the publication of the full translation in print as well as its availability online, enabling international access. The project was significant not only for commemorating the local Jewish community, but also for regional research and historical education.
Previously published excerpts attracted considerable interest from online readers, generating several hundred views. They also served as source material for genealogical consultations and for the scholarly editing of the Truskolasy Memoir.
The project activities were carried out between June 3 and December 31, 2024, with promotional events planned in Sokoły and Białystok, as well as dissemination through online platforms.
