It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Sigmunt A. Rolat, the founder of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the creator and great friend of the Museum.
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Richard “Ricky” Parasol, friend and Distinguished Benefactor of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
Subsequent to the dismissal of Ms. Monika Krawczyk from the position of Director of the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Board of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland declares that it fully endorses the decision of the Ministry and welcomes appointment of Dr. Michał Trębacz for the position of acting Director of the Institute.
Ronald S. Lauder – international philanthropist, investor, art collector, former representative of the American government in various positions, including as US ambassador to Austria. For years, he has been deeply involved in the protection and development of Jewish life around the world.
On December 12, 2023, MP Grzegorz Braun of the Konfederacja party attacked the Hannukah menorah, symbol of the joyful Jewish holiday, during a debate on the establishment of a new Polish government. This shameful attack is not the first incident involving this politician, who does not hide his antisemitic views. However, they did not prevent him from obtaining a mandate in free and democratic elections.
We have been following with deep pain the news about massive attacks by Hamas terrorists who broke into Israel, killing and kidnapping soldiers and civilians – women, children, and the elderly.
The Association mourns the loss of Mr. Nimrod S. Ariav, Distinguished Benefactor of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and a dear friend, who passed away on August 3 in Israel.
On Sunday, May 21 2023, the General Assembly of Members of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland was held. Apart from a report on the activities of the Association and the Board it was also the meeting during which the members elected new Board and Audit Committee for the years 2023-2027. Additionally, the Peer Tribunal was elected.

During its first meeting, the newly appointed POLIN Museum Council elected Marian Turski to be the Council’s Chairman. Deputy chairwoman and chairman were also elected: Ms Aldona Machnowska-Góra, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, and Mr Artur Hofman, head of the Social-Cultural Association of Jews in Poland.
