Connected with Muranów since his youth. He graduated from the Finance and Banking Department of the Warsaw School of Economics; during the years 1992-1993 he studied at the Northumbria University in Newcastle upon-Tyne as the Know-How Fund fellow. Connected with publishing and retail bookselling right from the start of his professional career. In 1991 he started his first company, ABE Marketing, which worked in the field of distribution of foreign literature and science information in Poland. Today the company is active throughout Central and Eastern Europe under the name ABE-IPS Ltd., www.abe.pl. Marek Nowakowski is still connected with the company as its Chairman of the Board. Since 2005 he has been a Board Member of Central Plaza Ltd.
– a commercial property management company. Since 2006 he has been the Chairman of the Board of Manufaktury Polskie Ltd. – a company working towards development of retail bookselling in Poland.
For 13 years he has been a member of the Polish Chapter of the YPO (Young Presidents’ Organisation, www.ypo.org), which is an international educational organisation. He is married and has three children. He has been awarded a bronze medal for distinguished cultural activists, for his dissident activity in the Federation of Fighting Youth in the years 1984-1988.
