Jukebox, Jewkbox! A Jewish Century on Shellac and Vinyl

The exhibition presented a history of the gramophone, 20th-century popular music, and the contributions of Jewish producers, composers, and artists.

Feb. 3rd – May 29th, 2017

Visitors listened to Yiddish theatre music, movie soundtracks, musical theatre songs, jazz, folk, punk, and cantorial music. Thanks to the gramophone, recorded music became popular in Jewish homes.
