The purpose of the Memory of Treblinka Foundation’s multiyear project is to build a database of people deported to the Treblinka extermination camp. As part of the project, a search of escapees from the camp will be carried out of documents such as memorial books (in English and Yiddish) from the areas from which Jews were deported to Treblinka (about 50 memorial books), and selected accounts filled in the USHMM and the USC Shoah Foundation (a total of about 120). The data found will be processed and added to the database on the Foundation’s site about escapees. Data will also be collected on additional victims of the camp in Treblinka. The main database will be built out by at least 1,000 names.
