Medicinal Plants of Płaszów

Grant for Nadaye Foundation for Medicinal Plants of Płaszów, an alternative educational tour of the former KL Plaszow camp

Medicinal Plants of Płaszów, an alternative educational tour of the former KL Plaszow camp, is a project of the Nadaye Foundation. Located beside the Kraków ghetto, this former German concentration camp is the largest Holocaust site in Kraków. Today it is a recreational area, a place where memory is disappearing. Noticing that many medicinal plants and herbs grow here, FestivALT, ethnobotanist Karol Szurdak and the City Social Assistance Center proposed to “harness the power of natural healing for social healing” by creating a garden of medicinal plants that would offer a space for confronting a difficult history, encourage dialogue, and draw on the strength of community.
