‘PARDES FESTIVAL – MEETINGS WITH JEWISH CULTURE IN KAZIMIERZ DOLNY. VII EDITION’

Grant for Foundation Spichlerz Kultury for the project: ‘PARDES FESTIVAL – MEETINGS WITH JEWISH CULTURE IN KAZIMIERZ DOLNY. VII EDITION’

The 7th edition of PARDES FESTIVAL in Kazimierz Dolny aims to relive the multicultural past of Kazimierz Dolny, Poland and Europe, as well as to incorporate the spiritual and material wealth of Jewish culture and tradition in day-to-day world. After the II World War the memory and knowledge of Jewish Kazimierz Dolny and multicultural heritage of Lubelskie, and the current Polish-Jewish history is fading away. The memories of Jewish or Ukrainian neighbors, culture of the shtetl, social, religious and cultural activities typical for Polish and European communities before the war are being forgotten. During the festival we come back to the mythical shtetl, we follow the steps of Jewish tradition and culture from the various regions of Poland and Europe. Each year we choose to talk about a different national or ethnical minority living in Poland.

Various cultural institutions and the community of the town are active during the preparations for the festival.

Various events, discussions, lectures, performances encourage reflection on stereotypes and create a space for multicultural dialogue.

The Foundation is hoping to attract guests from Poland and abroad thanks to its promotional activities.
