The aim of the project is to publish the first in Poland and the biggest in the world two-language album collecting satirical drawings and texts from Jewish newspapers in both Yiddish and Polish that are preserved in various libraries and archives all around the world. They are a commentary for the most important politica and social events of the Jewish history in the Independent Poland. This publication will also be a tribute to Jewish artists, who in majority died in ghettos, camps and Gulags during WWII. The unique iconography preserved in the satirical drawings is basically unknown today even though, it is a part of a priceless Jewish artistic heritage. The publication will be composed of an introduction, photographs and biographies of artists, main part, presenting satirical drawings and caricatures of the significant Polish Jews, as well as an index, bibliography, dictionary and personal index. The book will also include unknown jokes, poems and satirical short stories from the Jewish newspapers that were published in II Republic. They are a valuable addition to the visual materials. Drawings and texts will be accompanied by descriptions, all the terms will be explained in the dictionary in order to make reading the book easy even for those who do not have a thorough knowledge of Jewish history and culture.
