In 2008 and 2018, during archeological work and a restructuring of the layout of Rawicz, the foundations of the town’s synagogue were discovered, along with rubble from its walls and fragments of matzevahs from the cemetery. These discoveries inspired the Restoring Memory Together campaign, coordinated by the Museum of the Rawicz Region, which aims to preserve elements of Jewish heritage in the town. The goal of the Rawicz Synagogue Square project was to commemorate the Rawicz Jewish community by marking the place where until 1941 the synagogue stood. The commemoration is accompanied by educational projects, comprising lectures and walking tours showing the Jewish history of Rawicz.
