“Rescuing Memory of Kcynia’s Jewish Community”

Grant for the Kcynia municipality for the project “Rescuing Memory of Kcynia’s Jewish Community”

Inhabitants of Kcynia who still remember life before the war are fewer in number with each passing year. To make younger generations aware of the various cultures that once enriched the life in the town, the municipal government, together with the Kcynia Sound Archive, set up an informational plaque near the place where the synagogue stood before the Germans burned it down in September 1939. This initiative, which is part of the “Rescuing Memory of Kcynia’s Jewish Community” project, included walking tours in which local schoolchildren participated.
