“The City’s Memory: A Performative Walking Tour and Site-specific Performance in the Urban Space”

Grant for the Performa Foundation for the project “The City’s Memory: A Performative Walking Tour and Site-specific Performance in the Urban Space”

“The City’s Memory: A Performative Walking Tour and Site-specific Performance in the Urban Space” draws on the prewar multicultural history of Częstochowa, where more than 30,000 Jews lived before the war. The Performa Foundation aims to capture what is remembered today, when no clear symbols of the Jewish past remain in the urban space. This artistic work reveals what has been left behind in the urban tissue and memory of residents and raises awareness of the city’s multicultural history, including the presence of Jews.
