“The Lapidarium in the Jewish Cemetery in Opatów,” a project of the Society of Friends of the Opatów Region, continues activities that began as far back as 1989. Their goal is to gather tombstones scattered in many places around the town and bring them to the cemetery. By building the lapidarium, they will restore dignity to the burial place of Opatów’s Jews and address the reprehensible legacy of the period when the cemetery was destroyed.
