Voices from the Past

Grant to the Boys’ Choir of Poznañ, the city’s cultural institution, for the realization of the “Voices from the Past” project

The Poznań Boys Choir concert Voices From the Past, to be held in the National Museum in Poznań, has been planned as a musical tribute dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on the 80th anniversary of the day it broke out. The program includes original compositions by Jacek Sykulski, as well as works by artists such as Paweł Łukaszewski, Zbigniew Preisner and Kim André Arnesen. The concert will feature several arrangements of works by Mordechaj Gebirtig and Herman Yablokoff in Yiddish. The works will be interwoven with readings of memoirs by survivors of the events in the ghetto. The choir will be accompanied on clarinet by Sławomir Heinrychowski of the Grand Theater in Poznań, with the outstanding director and composer Jacek Sykulski overseeing the entire production. The recollections from the Ghetto will be read by the outstanding Polish theater actor Aleksander Machalica.
