On November 12th, 2007, the German Ambassador to Poland Michael H. Gerdts and the Chairman of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute Marian Turski signed an agreement concerning a German government subsidy for the construction of the Museum. The donation of 5 million Euros was assigned to preparations for the Core Exhibition and the technical fit-out of the Museum building.
The German government subsidy was the first foreign government subsidy toward the Museum.
