Hebrew printing in the 17th century

A subsidy for the preparation of the PhD thesis of Magdalena Bendowska.

Association supported the French translation of a PhD thesis by Magdalena Bendowska called ‘Development of Hebrew printing in Amsterdam in 17th century considering the fall of Jewish publishing houses in the Republic – mutual connections’. The thesis is mainly focused on research of old Hebrew and Yiddish prints from the collection of Jewish historical Institute, which include more than 200 Amsterdam prints. The PhD was supervised by prof. Gideon Koutsa in Ecole Doctorale Pratiques et Theories du Sens, Etudes Juives et Hebraiques – Universite Paris 8.
